Expedition in Nepal

Mountaineering is another prime attraction of Nepal. The mountains of Nepal have stood as irresistible landmarks of the world’s adventurers since Nepal opened its doors to visitors in the 1950s. Mountaineering can range from climbing the highest peak of the world to climbing lower peaks. Although by Himalayan standard 33 ”trekking peaks” are considered minor peaks, they nonetheless provide snow and ice-climbing, and are technically quite challenging. Mountaineering teams can apply for permit at mountaineering section of the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation.

Climbing gears can be bought of rented in Kathmandu. Many of the mountaineering and trekking companies also offer packages, where they provide gear, food, transportation, guides, porter services and also arrange for insurance coverage. It is best to shop around for agencies that have good experience and good track record. Knowledge of altitude sickness and acclimatization process is a must for every mountaineer. The fatal sickness, also know as Acute Mountain Sickness (AMS) is a danger for climbers ascending 3,000 meters and above. Symptoms include headache, loss of appetite and sleeplessness. Immediate descent or evacuation to lower altitude is the best cure.

Nepal Expedition or mountaineering is similar to challenging treks, however, includes basic mountaineering above the snow line using ice axe, crampons ropes and necessary climbing gears under the supervision and instruction from the climbing leader/guide.

People wanting to do this type of expedition needs psychological and physical stamina plus prior experience is certainly an advantage, but not essential. Minimum 30 days required for the trekking and mountaineering. We have some Himalayas day by day programmes. Please write us of your requirements and we shall forward to you more detail with approximately cost.
